JULY 2025 - URGENT UPDATE
On behalf of Groundlocal, I am writing to advise you of the impending retirement of two of our directors. Wendy and Neal Evans are planning to sell their home, and to leave the area in the next few months.
Obviously we wish them well for the future, and thank them for the time they have given us in keeping Groundlocal, and what it does, working so well on our estate. However, this leaves us with a problem, as, although those of us remaining have a very strong desire to continue as we always have, - this will simply not be possible with just the three of us.
So - we are now at a bit of a crossroads. We desperately need at least two (or more) volunteers to come forward to help us to continue to run the company for the benefit of everyone living on our estate. As you will be aware, the company charges an annual fee of around £45 per year per property for our open spaces.
You will be spending very little time - around three or four evenings a year - (around two hours max each time) meeting with the rest of us to decide how everybodys' money is spent, and to help with ideas to maintain our wonderful estate.
In return for your support, your annual fee is actually waived for all the time you support us in this way.
The alternative will be to wind Groundlocal down, and to appoint an external management company to take charge of the open areas on the estate. This option will give us no control over anything relating to open spaces, so is far less desirable - but most significantly will increase the annual cost per property to way beyond the £45 just mentioned. We have made some preliminary enquiries, and the lowest cost we could sensibly hope for would be in the region of £150 per year per property. Nearby Kingsfleet, and others pay much more, with fees of over £500 per year per property quite common on many other estates in the region.
I re-iterate, it is the desire of the remaining directors to continue with the current setup, please contact us urgently using the "contact us" tab above, if you are able to support us in any way. No specific skills are required, just a bit of time, and a desire to be part of a team for the benefit of everyone living here. If you could provide an email and ideally a mobile contact too, we will be in touch for an informal no obligation chat.
